Post Body

I have hit my limit with where I'm at. My youngest son will be graduating 2026. At that point I will be an empty nester with no spouse. I have wanderlust bad. I want to figure out the best setup for me.

What I'd like:

I'm thinking 5th wheel, but willing to have my mind changed. When I was a kid, we had a 27' Terry Taurus that we lived in FT. I haven't really lived the life in almost 30 years. I'm thinking 5th wheel for fuel efficiency, and being able to have a longer trailer without added tow length. I need something that sleeps 5 in case my grown kids ever want to join on my adventures. I'm thinking a 34'.

My budget is $30-40k all in for the trailer including a $10k down payment on a ram 1500/2500 depending on gross weight. I'd like to buy the trailer outright and just have the truck payment. I work from home, so I can work anywhere. I plan on the Verizon home internet and the starlink.

On the flip side, also willing to do a motor home, but they have a higher price point.

I plan on getting the thousand membership, and I am a disabled vet so I get the national parks pass for free.

I'm scared of the change but it needs to happen for my sanity.

Recommendations please?
