Hi, I've been experimenting with my RTL-SDR and decided it would be interesting to try out the direct sampling mode. I opened my SDR and used a multimeter probe as a long wire antenna attached to pin 1 and verified that I could receive some AM stations. I would like to make this permanent by soldering, but first I have a few questions. I want to be able to use my SDR in normal quadrature sampling mode most of the time, and I wanted to know if attaching a long wire to pin 1 will affect receiving quadrature samples through the SMA connector as usual. In fact, I tried tuning to an FM station while holding down a wire to pin 1 and found that the signal is weakened. Are there any other precautions/things I need to know before I solder?
Thanks
