Getting Started with Romancing Saga Re:Universe
Post Body

Hello Everyone, I know this game is gaining some attention with people asking on inputs on rerolling so I assume more and more people are now starting to play game. I would like to point some basic strategies you can consider so you can better play the game. I hope these tips help you well in your game!

Tip #1: Finish the tutorial

While it is tempting to skip the tutorial due to the text and instructions being in Japanese, it would be good to run through the Tutorial and you will be generously rewarded with an SS Style Hector, in which he is a very competitive and has been an instrumental DPS in my lineup. Even with all the SS Styles I have gotten, Hector still remains as an important member of my party on Speculation formation, one of the members taking advantage of the Speed and Attack Up. /u/ReadsForDays shared that you can still get SS Hector even after skipping tutorial.

Tip #2: Learn Specific Japanese Words

Some of you might be knowledgeable in Japanese since most of the Saga Series games are in Japanese. But for those of you who don't know a single Japanese, try to memorize the characters for the parameters and/or missions you are tackling. Focusing on the parameter, it would be good to know what "Strength" or "Intellect" or "Speed" or "Magic Defense" looks like. They will all be displayed as you play around with your formations to better place your units.

Tip #3: Healers, Tanks, Jammers, and Debuffers are as useful as DPS

Unlike in the real Saga Game, there is no potion available to heal your members, so the only way to get heals is thru a healer. There are limited number of healers in the game that you may want to pull from the gacha. For those who played the game during Mid December, Christmas Sophia, and Christmas Snowman both have heals and can be grinded (to obtain) from their own events. Other notable healers I would recommend are: S Style Undine (Water Mage from RS3), S Style Mariah (Tiny blue haired girl), A Style Agatha. The best healer so far is SS Style Sophia who is obtainable thru the Tower Tickets Gacha. You will have to go up the tower and get tickets, you use the tickets in the Gacha Banner to hope and get either Sophia, or Shif.

The only tank available right now are Sword Users that have the Parry (パγƒͺγ‚£ ) Skill. On top of my head, I know SS Style Albert, and SS Style New Year Polka. I believe there is an S Style unit that has the same skill. There is Bear who is an A style who also has the Parry skill. As long as the unit is placed properly in a formation where they are highly likely to be attacked, then Parry will be your saving grace.

Jammers, most notably, SS Style Rouge is very helpful in tackling the 10 Round event every weekend or taking down those hard contents with ease. Rouge has an A style where he learns Shadowbind (ε½±γ—γ°γ‚Š) which is extremely helpful in inflicting Paralysis. Paralysis keeps a target unable to attack or do anything for 3 turns which makes you open to do normal attacks to get BP or recover from anything nasty you got. As long as the target enemy has 0 defense on Paralysis, then Rouge will not have any issue inflicting it to the target.

Debuffers helps your units survive those nasty attacks along with Jammers who inflict ailments. Notable thing to do at this point of the game is for Physical Boss targets to debuff the target as much as you want with the 8 BP Big Sword (ζ΅γ—ζ–¬γ‚Š) or Martial Arts Skill (γ‚΅γƒ–γƒŸγƒƒγ‚·γƒ§γƒ³). In the Pyro Hydra dungeon, all of my units can survive its Normal Attack or Fang Crush due to the multiple times I debuffed with Gustav (learns from S Style) and Azami (learns from S Style - Christmas). One other type of debuffer is lowering ailment resist of the target so Jammers can inflict the ailment you wanted (e.g. Paralysis), one notable debuffer in this is S Style Christmas Kat where her attacks comes with either Attack Down, or I believe Stun Down.

Tip #4: Use Expedition Tickets on Longest Expedition

Don't waste your tickets with the first 3 Expeditions, but instead, try to work your way to get the 4th Expedition (longest one so far) where it will take 6 tickets to immediately finish the expedition. Expedition is a way for all your units (Benched or Active) to gain stats outside of battle. Unless necessary, use your tickets at the least on the 3rd expedition.

Tip #5: Grind Grind Grind Grind

Everything can be cleared when your units are strong, and other than expeditions, your units can get stronger only thru clearing quests, the harder the quest, the higher the chance your unit will permanently gain a parameter. There are also a log of benefits of Grinding, such as getting event units like SS Style New Year Gray who can be bought from the New Year banner, SS Style Rouge can be obtained at the end of Chapter 1 at a low drop rate. SS Style Monica can be obtained once you finish Normal Chapter 5. The game provides you with resources you need and you don't need to get the latest unit for you to clear content. I remember my party when I started being: S Style Black, S Style Ginny, S Style Gereha, SS Style Hector, and S Style Albert. All of them were Free or from events that I was able to clear contents. That was my starting party until I slowly got the obtainable SS Style units thru Grinding, and some from Gacha.
