FFB freaks out after a lap or two whenever I set damage to full?

Driving a Thrustmaster TMX Pro. I don't know what the issue is but whenever my damage is set to full, after a lap or two racing (clean, no crashes or anything), my wheel goes nuts. It'll go dead feeling with no feedback, or start pulling toward the left or right really hard, or just knocking back and forth on its own in straights. Really weird behavior.

When damage is set to limited this doesn't happen. Also, I know it's not the wheel, as I've got no issues in other games (AC, PCARS2, rF2, AMS2, list goes on).

Any idea what the heck is up with this?
