How to make a enemy/boss -specific weapon?

Im trying to make a set of weapons that function similarly to old school fantasy weapons such as the Werebuster, Coral Sword, or Giant's Bane from Final Fantasy.

These weapons dont deal elemental damage, but rather are twice as effective against enemies of their preferred type (were beasts, aquatic, and giants, respectively).

Similarly, if I wanted a weapon that was only effective against a certain named enemy, such as using a sword called Godkiller against an enemy called "God", would this be possible?

How would i go about doing such a thing?
