Generating a 3D point cloud map (simulation)

Hello.
So I have a simulated world on Gazebo and a mobile robot moving in it with a Velodyne VLP-16 mounted on top of it. I can visualize a 3D point cloud on Rviz when it's moving. My goal is to map a 3D point cloud of the environment that the robot is navigating in. What packages or methods do you suggest using? (only in simulation)
