Screen: I am blown away by the screen relative to the deck’s. Fired up red dead 2 that I had been playing almost exclusively on the deck and what a difference - felt like a different game.
Power: This is a trade off for me. You want a substantial jump in power without sacrificing battery? Stay connected. Unplugged, it’s (mostly) on par with the deck if you want the battery to last. Obvious, some don’t mind the battery drainage in order to gain performance.
Feel and built: the ally is prettier to look at, but the deck seems like a bit more premium. Especially the sticks. They ally sticks feel extremely loose and cheap. The deck feels chunky but solid.
Windows vs Linux? I’ve encountered issues on both. Nothing too bad on either, but it could be based on my usage type. A lot of the games I play are on gamepass, which is not doable (unless streaming) on the deck.
Overall, the ally seems like the better system and wins in most categories, but….
I enjoy the deck more. Might return the ally, just might, not sure yet.
Don’t come at me with hate, just my opinion.
Edit* One thing that I forgot to mention that bothers me tremendously is the lack of accessories for the ally. A gadget that cost this much should have better support.
