I have a Prox generic looking RFID key fob that is falling apart. My plan is to use some thermoplastic to repair the housing.
I would be grateful if someone familiar with these devices would take a look and tell me if it is possible to repair or if I should just drop some money on the expensive replacement fee instead.
I have a lot of experience working with thermoplastic, I roll it in sheets and use a heat gun to mold it and adhere it to broken / modified parts.
Questions:
- Does anyone know the model of this device?
- Is there somewhere I can see a breakdown of where the critical components are located in it (I have spent a decent amount of time looking already and came up empty)?
- Would an extended period (a few minutes) of direct heat (enough to cause 3rd degree burns on a person) damage the device if it is insulated by a layer of plastic?
- Is it possible to clone/get this cloned cheaply and easily (location Philadelphia, PA, USA)
Here is the fob:
I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
