Is it possible to read a passive RFID tag using smartphone? I am aware of NFC but is it the only option available?
Post Body

Hi, I am new to the world of RFID and looking for some clarification as I am overwhelmed by the amount of information on the net. So if I understand correctly, as of now only NFC is available on smart phones to interrogate RFID tags. But it will only work on tags of frequency 13.54 MHz and that too for a very short distance. Please correct me if I am wrong here. My next question is, is there any other way to read RFID tags using smart phones? If I want to read from a longer distance, say, 5m...what needs to be done?
