Tuesday Night Hot Laps: Tonight's Program (D Class: Jan 31)
Post Body

D Class Grind

Tonight's hot lap theme is D class. We'll start at 7pm PST (10pm EST) and run for about 90 minutes.

We have quite a few tracks where the club hasn't recorded a clean lap yet. We'll focus on two of these, as well as four other fun tracks with a little room for improvement. My stretch goal for this evening is to move the club from #296 to #290 in D class (and from #123 to #120 in overall circuit).

Even if you're not planning on setting top 100 lap times, these slow cars will provide a perfect opportunity to hone our driving skills. Watch where you gain or lose time relative to others (and yourself), and improve your weak points.

Bounties

Since this is more of a grind session -- driving slow cars on big tracks -- I've decided to pay out some Forza credits for top 100 lap times. I will award 1 million CR to any driver who posts a top 100 time during the races tonight (limit three drivers per race). I'll verify immediately after each race on the web leaderboards if I can.

Note that you must place on the podium in the race (top 3, ranked by best lap) in order to qualify for the top 100 bounty. The worst case scenario is I have to pay out 18 million CR, which would mean gaining 53:34.743 on the leaderboards. That would move us up to #120 overall and #290 in D class.

This might also discourage some of you from overtraining on the tracks we're going to be running. :P

Schedule

We'll have a total of six races, each lasting 10-12 minutes:

Race #1: Sunset Full Reverse (4 laps)

  • Previous club best: 30:00.000 (none set yet)

  • Top 100: 1:38.866
  • Competitive cars: Chevy Camaro '79, Chevy Spark, Honda Civic '99, Mazda MX-5 Gen 1, Lotus Elan, Toyota MR-S '02, Honda Civic '94, Ford Pinto

Race #4: Le Mans Circuit de La Sarthe (2 laps)

  • Top 100: 1:33.669
  • Competitive cars: Chevy Camaro '79, Chevy Spark, Lotus Elan, Honda Fit, Honda Civic '99, Mazda 2, Fiat 131 Abarth, Fairlady Z '69
