... that easily the worst part of the game and what can be said about basically any RockStar game so far, is how linear and on-rails the missions are.
Disclaimer: I am by no means saying it's a bad game, infact it's one of the best games I've ever played.
I mean here you have a grand western sand box, where it's so detailed the the horses have nuts and poop, stray cats catch mice, your player's hair grows and they get dirty as time goes by, you can rob and kidnap people with a fairly decent witness/crime system, etc etc (long long list of these sorts of things)
And yet, the missions only really have one way to do them , usually with little to no player agency at all.
You don't get to choose to do it stealthy or guns blazing, you don't get to talk your way out of or into anything, it's just one big movie (which is fine the first play through maybe?)
Going through my second playthrough now, I actually find myself kind of dreading doing certain missions because of how on-rails they are
I really hope they address this in GTA 6 (I kind of doubt they will though). I would love for the missions to have more of the sand box nature of the game baked into them. Maybe let us kill, or kidnap someone. More player choices on what and how to do things.
