Snail Mail themed books recommendations?
Post Body

It's me again so, uhm... hello.

As the title says: have you read any book that revolves around letters/postcards that you would recommend? It doesn't matter if it's fiction or non fiction. If you could tell me why you liked it, that would be a bonus. :)

At the moment, I can think of 3 books:

1) Signed, Sealed, Delivered, by Nina Sankovitch (non fiction): the author is a hand written letter enthusiast (like, really enthusiast, to the point of writing a book about it) and covers any type of letter you can think of: love letters, letters of friendship, family letters, historical letters, letters by famous people, letters by people like you and me, books, movies and tv shows where letters play an important role at some point, etc. I find interesting to read someone talking about something with so much passion, especially if I share the interest. Now, I wouldn't say 'YOU HAVE TO RUN AND READ THAT BOOK!', but I found it interesting and a light reading. :)

2) 84, Charing Cross Road, by Helene Hanff (non fiction): As a person who loves snail mail, books and bookstores, and is obsessed with London, I couldn't help but loving this book. The author (a New Yorker) develops a years-long-friendship with the employees of a bookstore in London through letters. The book is a compilation of those letters. A second book, The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street, compiles the diary entries of the author when she visits London and get to know their friends in person.

3) The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky (fiction): A teenager decides he needs a friend to talk to anonimously, so he starts sending letters to a 'Dear Friend' without providing a return address. Like writing in a diary, basically. The book tells the story of the protagonist through his letters.

I know RAoC is not about letters but about cards, so I hope this post is still ok. I enjoy cards as much as I enjoy letters, so any book recommendation about the subject is welcome.

Let me know if you have read some of these and what you think of it. :)
