I just got a job at a pet store and have now taken home three (possibly four) pregnant rats to foster. The old animal care specialist, who is fired and I'm replacing, incorrectly sexed an entire litter of rats and put them all in one cage together.
The brothers mated with the sisters, so I'm wondering if the babies will have any mutations or birth defects. I'm going to try and give away as many of the babies as I can, but the fact of the matter is most of them will be feeder rats if I can't find them homes after they're weaned.
So will the babies be deformed due to incest? Will they have unusual mutations? And if anyone is in the Chicagoland area and wants an extremely friendly rat, feel free to PM me and I'll contact you when they've been weaned!
