I took my rat Cinnamon to the emergency vet today because she was having rapid breathing and discharge from her vagina despite being spayed. The vet did an ultrasound and said she has fluid in her belly and thinks she has cancer in her chest and the prognosis isn't good so she recommends euthanasia. I have one other rat, about 1.5 years old. I am not able to get another rat atm (due to the fact i'd have to do intros and get another cage., Also I moved and my room is way smaller than before so the space they'd have to play would be very minimal so I am needing to surrender her. What would be my timeline in doing this as I know rats need socialization and I don't want to keep her by herself and make her suffer? I feel terrible but I don't think I'm in a financial situation to be able to take care of any pets right now. At the surrender would my other rat be by herself or do they typically let them play with other rats?
