Hello! I've recently gotten a pair of cute little boys. Both of which are about 9 weeks old.
https://imgur.com/a/9M8rPnM i named the gray one taco salad (taco for short) and the white guy Lenny!
Anyway, I have put them in a model 161 critter nation cage, have been feeding them twice a day, with normal pellets and treats. Last night I made them a super dinner with strawberries, uncooked pasta, reheated frozen peas, pellets, and some whole grain cheerios.
As I was going to bed I admittedly made a mistake. I misjudged tacos body language and was sticking my finger in their main hidey home in the back right of the cage. I had my finger kind of right up to his face. He slowly opened his mouth and went right to my finger and bit me hard enough to draw a small bit of blood. Small enough to where i wasn't worried about washing it. But enough to spook me and hurt, physically and emotionally lol. I admit that I shouldn't have been sticking my finger right up to his personal space. Lenny had nibbled at me before, but it was always a test bite that kind of tickled.
Do you guys think this was a food bite, or a bite out of fear?
Either way. I need help with ways to combat this in a positive way. I'm hoping that it was a reflection on my poor judgement, rather than a temperamental and hormonal problem.
I just got them Thursday night and already love the hell out of them. I want to bevable to handle them and love on them. I know these things take time.
Please help! I have some baby food as well that I've been feeding them with a baby spoon. In the meantime I will keep doing that and keeping it chill and lowkey. I want to add more hammocks and homes to the enclosure to get them more comfortable. While the breeder I bought them from says they are super friendly and bred for pets, I feel like they are skiddish around me.
Granted, they are quite new.
