Maybe this is a dumb question I've only been following PL for about a year but I dont know the ins and outs.

Can you trade player for player between other teams? for example ( hypothetical) ( Troy Canadian.EG for redeemer.SSG just for an example) . What's the rules behind this? Is this possible to do ? ( if so.. is it decided by the team or organization or both ? )

I follow sports like the NHL where there is a salary cap and a general manager that can make trades for players.. is it a similar system ? .
