So, there are two dangers in posting relentlessly to r4r30plus/r4r40plus: You're going to run into people you've talked to before and either ghosted or said it didn't work out, and people are going to recognize your content. Both have happened to me: Saw a history on discord when they friended me, and another recycled the content of his post that I originally answered. (I don't fault him for it — it was fabulous content — and we hung out a bit after I called him out until he ghosted me again. No hard feelings at all.)

And: r4r40plus is a hell of a lot smaller than r4r30plus. We're bound to run into the same people again. I am terrified for the time I give them my username to hook up with me on Discord or Telegram and they recognize it and think, oh shit, not her! Run, run... Or imagine the "oh shit, we're already talking" — I've got a few people I'm still talking to after my last post, and what are they going to think, I'm just bored with them which is why I'm posting again? (This happened to me as well, a guy said he saw "another one of [my] posts.")

I mean, really. We're the same people trawling subreddits over and over, looking for that elusive connection and, especially today, we're frantically reaching out into the ether. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm lonely — I just had a rousing, hour-long conversation about fantasy and scifi books with a guy on a discord server. Maybe if I think really hard about it, I feel lonely — but not really. I kind of like being alone, and I do have a cat.
