To Love
My number one goal in life is to love - and I personally believe that in order to love, the very first person has to be yourself. That's why this goal would be better defined as "to love myself"
I personally define "to love myself" as "to provide and protect for myself", and think Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs makes a good foundation for this. To be explicit this means ensuring things like I have shelter and food, it means caring about what kind of food I put into my body (for health reasons, not "diets"), it means staying active (to be capable, not size/performance), it means practicing moderation to still be able to indulge...I guess it means caring about the ways I interact with myself and caring about how I allow the world to interact with me/I interact with it.
To Do
And what is love but an action?
I personally hate the idea of "find your passion!" What I love is doing a lot of things - curiosity is probably my favorite emotion of all. So this could be rephrased as being "to experience what's in the world, and to create and put forth my own."
To give some example of things I'm looking forward to doing coming up: spending as much time in the springs/water of Florida as I can while I'm back here; learning the drums to finish an EP I've been working on for a decade; getting back into weight lifting; learning blender to get into 3D animation, so I can animate with the music; getting further into DIY and ever continuing those skills. Oh, big thing for me too is travel. Best thing for curiosity, one long term goal is to get a van and building it out to camp/travel with (not Instagram "vanlife", more practical)
Which, to give a jumping off point if you choose to message me: what kind of things are you working on or looking forward to doing?
Corollary: It's also understanding that there's two main variables in being able "to do": time and capability. Because of the constructs of the current system we live in, this can currently be rephrased as time and money.
I have a degree in Computer Science and have worked in the field for several years. I also really only got the degree as an adult because I find that kind of stuff a lot of fun and thankfully it's one that can actually pay for itself. Now that it has, I am looking to use it to start my own programming business.
Going back to the time and money formula, I care significantly more about time. There's a lot that can be done with only time, there is nothing that can be done with no time. I am starting the business to give more time to do (while still providing), not to be able to make more money. I am only worried about having "enough"; I try my best to not play into this stupid late stage capitalistic hellhole game.
To Share
If love is but an action, what kind of action does it take? I'm sure there are a lot of good answers to this, but for me personally this is "to share". It means that because the goal is "enough", when excess is had it's not looked to be kept. It also doesn't mean just sharing the "provide" part - volunteering and protesting is something I want to get a lot more into with that time in order to also share in the "protect"
It's also the reason I am making this post. Because the first person I would like to share in this life with is a partner with similar goals and beliefs to all of this.
The rest
By no means am I saying I'm looking for someone who mirrors this completely. My goal in life is simply to love, and this has been my positive feedback loop to make that happen. Loving means doing, doing means sharing, sharing means loving, loving means doing...
And certainly there is other stuff that matters too. But I'm a believer in "trust the process" and don't care too much about the minutia that is the rest (to quote a song lyric, "Yeah I just really like girls") - so as long as you are someone that this resonates with, I'd love to hear from you.
But adding some of my own personal minutiae: 5'11 (best height) and pictures can take care of the rest: https://imgur.com/a/djdFHC9. I have lived all over the country (including out of a car), but currently will be residing in Florida for the next year. I do not want to stay here long term; somewhere cheap back in Colorado is probably at the top of my list, but somewhere back in the Midwest is more likely with how cheap it is while still having a good amount to do.
