I just moved to the SW suburbs of Chicago in 2023. Making friends and dating is so weird after 40, and difficult. Ideally I'd like to meet people to develop a solid friend group. All of my past longer term girlfriends started out as friends first. So while my expectation isn't dating, but I'd be lying if I said that that wouldn't be a nice result.
My first love was always sports. My current goal is to develop a workout plan to kick this beer belly I've developed to the curb. Even if I'm no longer playing contact sports, I like to stay active hiking, biking and being in nature. I also enjoy bar trivia, board games, and watching movies. I enjoy a good concert (especially outdoors), and already have tickets to three different shows this summer.
I have a job as a systems analyst that has a very wonky schedule that rotates from days, to evenings, to the overnight midnight shift - which means that I'm more interested in planning something rather than spur of the moment activities. But when I do have a day off, I love taking the Metra into the city and exploring and going to local festivals and events.
If any of this sounds like we would get along, I hope to hear from you. And if you're farther away and just want to chat, I'm open to that as well.
