Good! Y'all are the folks I wanted to talk to.

A while ago I realized that love is a noun and a verb. The noun comes and goes. We don't get to control it; a series of chemical reactions in our bodies to another person dictate the presence of the noun. The verb, what we do, is the kinda love that matters.

Trust is also a noun and a verb. The chemicals and trauma responses in our bodies are somewhat out of our control, but what you choose to do about that determines who you are.

I think what I am looking for are the verbs love and trust. Love the noun for me comes pretty easily, for me, so it is not a good judge of anything really. Trust the noun, for me, is rare. It has to be earned over quite a bit of time so I don't wait for it to put it into action. The verbs are what matters to me.

I also want to build a life with somebody. I don't want to spend time spinning wheels, you know?

I read somewhere that if you can meet the standard, you standards aren't too high. I am looking for an exclusive relationship with someone who has a college degree (I have a few), makes over 30k per year (as a graduate student, even I make that), has a career (I am an educator, researcher and all around intellectual badass), a place to live, reliable transportation, and is invested in making things better. Also, no smokers (allergies and asthma).

It isn't super important to me that my hobbies line up with my partners. Lifestyle matters, though. I am cool with spending time outside, but I don't pee outdoors. I read a lot. I write a fair bit. I watch TV & I eat meat. I have 2 dogs and am allergic to cats.

Right now I am in Oklahoma, but I will probably be out of here in a year or 2, so I am open to long distance if we will be able to see each other regularly with the goal of one day living in the same place.
