I took time off this week and had my kids over since Monday and dropped them back off with their mom this afternoon. It was a lovely few days complete with a couple early Christmas gifts because I realized I bought them more presents in the last few months (including NINE board games) than I thought. My daughter made me some paper decorations for my little Charlie Brown tree so I got the better end of the deal anyway.
But now the kiddos are gone and I'm on my own with no plans for the rest of the holiday weekend and then some. So far I've eaten my solo Thanksgiving-inspired meal of (deli) turkey sandwiches while watching football and fútbol with more football to come. I may crack open one of the remaining cocktails I bought last Christmas when I was also alone. It was a six-pack and there are three bottles left so, yeah, I'm obviously a heavy drinker. I'm told I'm fun/candid/weird enough sober but tipsy me is an interesting dude. How are y'all after a few drinks?
So anyway, Reddit, I'm thankful for you. This is now my third Thanksgiving since my divorce and each has definitely been better than the last. I work from home and just seem to meet people online. And by "online" I mean on reddit. Every friend I've made in the last 2 years has been from reddit.
Don't worry, I do have social skills. I'm just another INFP that doesn't go out to social spots on their own. I do go outside quite a bit but my hobbies out there include walking on my own, exercising on my own, and shooting hoops on my own. But if my kids are with me, I'll also play on the playground with them and not on my own because it's understandably unsettling when a tall guy in his late 30s is playing alone on a playground. Society just ain't fair is it?
Now, Reddit, does anyone want to be friends and/or have flirty fun and/or fall in love and/or have a stilted conversation that leads to nowhere and/or finally watch Andor because it's supposed to be surprisingly good?
Either way... happy Thanksgiving, y'all.
