I'm seeking a close friend who is available to talk a decent amount most days. Doesn't have to be constant though, obviously, especially during working hours. Basically, I just want someone who puts in some effort. I tend to talk a lot, respond to messages relatively quickly, and usually if I'm going to be gone for a while then I'll let you know.
While the point of the post is primarily to just makes friends, I am single and open to this becoming a relationship eventually if it goes there (guys included since I am bi), especially if you live within Ohio or the surrounding states. It would have to be after I go back to my software engineer job (currently on hiatus for depression/ADHD stuff) though, and I did get out of a relationship somewhat recently so I'd like to wait a bit.
Anyway, about myself! I'm very passionate about video games, music, anime, and movies (probably in that order for most interested to "least" interested). I especially really love anything that gets a strong emotional response or can make me cry. I feel like all of my favorite games (at least single-player) and anime have all been emotional stuff. My favorite movie ever is Your Name and if you've seen that you know just how much of an emotional roller-coaster that is, haha. I like playing multiplayer games though, too! I play with my siblings sometimes (I have 8 of them) but they aren't available as often these days. So if you want to play co-op FPS games or farming games or anything else really (I'm a Steam player mostly) then that is a plus! Definitely not required though. The game I'm currently into a lot right now is Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, but I have loads of suggestions for games to play.
I also have a history with music in that I was a band kid in high school up through college a bit (bari sax mostly). I have since retired from playing sax but I have just started to learn bass guitar. I wanted to try something new and different and I like it because I can play songs I actually listen to, whereas with sax I was mostly playing jazz but I don't really listen to jazz in my free time. Speaking of listening to music, I am into quite a lot of different stuff but just to name some genres: classic rock, 90s alt, ska, pop punk, electronic, j-rock, vocaloid, and video game music.
Another aspect of myself that I have learned to appreciate is that I do have a very kind heart, I have been through a lot in my own life and met tons of people who have been through a lot as well. So I think that has enhanced my empathy and I just generally like to listen to people and offer advice and comfort whenever I can. I also hand out a lot of compliments (even to strangers in-person) so hopefully that's OK! Also—for the few guys who are reading this—I have never really had a close male friend, so I'm not as used to opening up with guys. But I think it's bullshit that as men we never do that and I would like to change that.
As far as looks go, I am 6'3", 240 lbs (gained some weight from depression stuff but I am losing weight), thick medium-length brown hair is that is going gray (trying to figure out what style I want to go with, it's usually shorter), glasses, green eyes. I have some ear piercings but no tattoos. Clean shaven. Willing to share a picture after a bit if things go well. I would love to hear from you!
