Hey there, I'm Emilie. I am a mother of two (two year old boy newborn girl), happily married (most days), and a practicing psychologist. It's a bit comical to admit, but I've been struggling a lot lately - the constant demands of parenting have been really getting to me, and I've been struggling to find a port in the storm. If I'm not exhausted, I'm defeated. If my husband and I are doing well, my toddler is starting a fight. I find that I feel like I'm never alone, but always lonely. It always just seems like there's something that's there to punch down on me... and I'm looking for a friend (or friends) that (hopefully) understands the struggle.

To be very clear, I am looking for FRIENSHIPS, and not anything romantic in nature.

What I would really like is:

• Make a connection with other parents whom I can talk, bitch, and gossip to about the struggles of parenting, raising children, (and occasionally spouse dynamics).
• Get to know each other, and be allies that we can turn to when we need a friend in our corner.
• Occasionally check in with each other to make sure we're alive.

What I am NOT looking for is: someone who simply says "it'll get better" or "you're so strong" and fills the awkward moments of my defeat with blanket 90s inspirational poster catchphrases. (While I do occasionally appreciate this, it more often feels dismissive than supportive).

What I would like to ultimately work towards (and what I have an idea in the back of my mind for) is a calm but communicable group of mature and relatively like minded parents that can offer each other advice, support, tips, compassion, happy moments, shoulders to cry on, and most of all.... friendship!

I have a bunch of different interests (in my post history if you want to go digging), but I never really get time to engage with most of them (at least not right now). I'm happy to talk about those too. Here's the TL;DR:

• Please be a parent or co-parent (or something like that) with children under 18.
• Please be OLDER than 20, but YOUNGER than 45.
• I am NOT looking for romance, relationship, etc.
