I'm hoping that posting here might help me find some of the cool people out there in the world, or at least a little reassurance that they do exist. The ultimate goal would be a long term relationship, but there is no rush to get there.

I figure it might as well give you a lot of the important information now, for me it is a lot easier to take the time to contact someone if I actually know a bit about them.
I'll be 40 in a couple of months. Single mom to an 8 year old. Divorced over 4 years after a marriage of 10. Serial monogamist. Sometimes if feels like too many cats and people in our tiny home. I would love to have a bigger place... and then fill it past capacity with adopted children and rescued cats. If you're up, to being the Bandit to my Chilli, we should definitely talk.
Trust and open communication are very important for me. I like to joke around and send GIFs, mixed in with plenty of deep, meaningful conversations. I want to feel like I can be myself, and be able to support someone while they do their thing. And if we have some stuff we enjoy doing together - perfect.
I'm a registered nurse, and hope to go back for my master's in the next few years.
I try to be a good person, and want to make the world a better place. I'm an atheist, so this motivation for good is because it feels right. I'm absolutely a political liberal.
I don't drink, smoke, or use any recreational drugs. I don't expect everyone around me to abstain completely, but it's not my thing, and not a part of my social experiences.
Working on the dialing in the right medication combination to manage my depression and anxiety, which don't seem to be rooted in any major traumas. My therapist tells me I am very "self aware."

Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Marvel are cool, but I don't follow any of them religiously. I don't mind if you are a super nerd about any of these things - as long as you are cool with me getting my geek on for square foot gardening and reproductive health.

I'm quite content to sit on the porch reading a book, work in the garden, or just chill with my family. I enjoy walking through the woods and camping. I'm working on doing more of both.
My music tastes are eclectic, but lean to pop rock for the most part. David Bowie, Harry Styles, Spacehog, Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, and Future Islands are a few of my go-tos.
I read a lot, trying to work in more non-fiction, but I'm a fan of horror and sci-fi. I will not deny my love for Stephen King.
For shows a few of my favorites are Stranger Things, Dark, The Witcher, Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Sex Education, Flea Bag, and Our Flag Means Death.

I'm not always able to chat all day, but I try to have a couple of conversations or interactions each day. Texting, sharing socials, calls and video chats are nice ways to get to know someone outside of the difficulty that is reddit chat. Ghosting is really frustrating. If I'm not able to keep up with talking, or just not feeling it, I will let you know.
