As I'm typing I realize that work is piling up (I work full time and bring home work coz it's complicated) but also that my entire social circle is now 3 online friends. So here goes.
I work with teenagers, 'babysit' some adults, and have some science-y background. I work with a lot of spreadsheets and I have too many Coursera courses 'in progress.' I never planned to be a mother and never like children but now have a kid whose handsomeness still amazes me (people generally won't guess he's mine). Settling in any one country or owning a house genuinely scares me; I'm currently living in my fifth country of residence. I'm definitely left-leaning politically in nearly all issues. I grew up having self-esteem issues; I guess like a lot of girls with a narcissistic mother. I was incredibly awkward socially, and I think there's that side to me forever although these days it's a bit more hidden. I'm an atheist and was raised by a religious mother who was horrified that I listened to Meat Loaf. I can't seem to go through a working week without Spotify. I judge people by their ideal job more than anything else, and it irks me when people see gender/race/origins/sexual orientation before anything else (please don't ask where I'm from). Between my full time job, kid, and my current effort to get another degree, I generally don't have a hobby. Then again I seem to be going to Netflix's 'New and Popular' a lot although I try so hard to make good use of Netflix's Nike exercise stuff. I romanticize the days of the past when I could just walk to the beach and swim in the sea after work or on the weekends - but I definitely appreciate my current job despite no coastline in sight. Oh, in my teens I was quite convinced I had a 'connection' with Agatha Christie, and during a brief stint down under in my twenties, my Friday night entertainment was watching Rove.
I'm looking for people to generally chat with and exchange stories from the past and present. If you love your job, aren't religious, and won't ask me 'where are you from' as an opening line, I like you already.
