Here we are - another turn around the sun. And here I am, virtually a dinosaur in r4r years, even the 30plus and 40plus variants. Probably something that should be relegated to a museum.
That said, the new year, new possibilities, right? But those new possibilities at least in the dating realm don't seem to exist within my circle of friends, so I'm looking elsewhere. 2024 is going to be a year of upheaval in my life as I take a few months off work, rethink my career and my years between here and retirement, so let's add the stress of trying to date to the mix as well. What could possibly go wrong, right?
Short version: I'm single, you're single and hopefully somewhere semi-close. Let's talk. I've got another week or so until my 46th year expires, and honestly "I'm meeting someone new for dinner" would be a way better excuse to my friends than the usual "I'm just going home and don't really want to do anything" Really no expectations, no pressure, just go out for a decent dinner and meet somebody new.
So rather than a long post, I'll give you the highlights - the make or break kind of stuff. You can go check my other dating post history to probably learn more, and I'd be disappointed a little if you didn't.
- Career, house, cars, yeah, all the stuff you expect a 40-something to have.
- Divorced many years ago, no drama from that.
- No kids, just two cats
- Atheist, not particularly spiritual
- Politically moderate but current climate of stupidity keeps pushing me left
- I am the world's worst Coloradoan. Not a super outdoorsy type. I like my mornings with coffee, wifi, and a shower. I don't mind going for a hike or bike ride, and occasionally will take a day to go annoy aquatic critters (I'd call it fishing, but that implies I actually catch anything...), but scaling a 14er or going on a week-long backcountry hike is nowhere on the todo list.
- Definitely an introvert who can go out and turn on the extrovert for a while to hang out with friends or get things done, but then needs a while to recharge doing my own stuff. INTJ-ish if you give any credit to such things.
- My best friend (who is nearly OCD-level neat and organized) believes I'm some sort of chaos demon sent from the depths of hell to torment him and other chronically organized people
- My outlets are creative and academic - photography, writing, researching, creating new things. My hobbies kind of tie into that, and I have a laundry list of projects related to those that I will never get through before I die.
Oh yeah, and some pictures. Let's face it, some level of physical attraction is important so we might as well just get this out front.
Here's to hoping you're out there somewhere. Drop me a message if you're interested and we can see if this might work. And like I said, hopefully it's a few days of messages and then actually set up plans to meet up for dinner or something.
