I've got a working theory that modern dating is so difficult because of the convenience of online dating, namely that many believe their perfect mate is the next swipe away. Perfection doesn't exist. All I need is mutual attraction, great vibes and matched effort. I believe everything else falls into place when those are present. It should be stated that I'm beholden to remaining in Wisconsin, though open to moving within the state once a relationship progresses to that point. (Wisco is a pretty great state, plus I believe well-positioned geographically if/when climate change continues to get worse.)

Anyways howdy, I'm Nick. This post is going to be exceptionally long so I thank you in advance for reading. I'm 6', 200lbs, average build, good-looking and am willing to share (appropriate! ;) pics after the first message. My nest almost literally just emptied a bit ahead of schedule; which has yielded a minor existential crisis but also opened up tons of free time. Being dad was the best thing I've done with my life so it's cool if you have kids, but I'm all done with mine (22f & 17m). If yours are younger than tween age the connection would need to be sublime, though I would never say never, and can admit that at times the thought of being in a stepparent role to littles holds some appeal.

I've been divorced for over two years; and done extensive work on myself in that time. I've remained down 60lbs from my heaviest, walk at least a couple miles daily, do yoga and weights (haven't been able to lift in some time as I battle tennis elbow ugh). I've been working with the same counselor since the divorce (which has long since been processed); and at this point have scaled back the appointment frequency since things have improved so much.

I'll be straight up I'm not a huge adrenaline seeker...sky diving, roller coasters, high-speed motorsports, etc. just aren't my jam. But I'm far from a homebody! I dig kayaking, tubing rivers, fishing, scoping state parks, gardening, live music, stand up comedy, and more. When it's warm on, in or near the water is my happy place. Absolute foodie who loves sushi and trying new cuisines, and am a very strong home cook to boot. As a Wisconsinite I am virtually always down to grab a cocktail, yet I rarely if ever get drunk unless it's a special occasion. I'm 420 friendly, and while you need not be, it would be dope if you were (pun intended)...I find it vastly preferable to alcohol at this point in my life, so if you're curious but haven't partaken I would suggest an attempt. Sincere salute to anyone fully sober, I am in awe of anyone who can raw dog this timeline but that isn't me haha. Would love a copilot on my roughly quarterly trips to the UP! :)

I do want to travel much more; hit the ocean for the first time in June '23 and it was AMAZING. The next couple trips on my list are Deadwood (I LOVED that show) and getting a sick suite in the Rockies during peak blizzard season. The latter not to ski; something nice with a view, hot tub and fireplace to come back to after exploring during the day. I have that one earmarked as a romantic getaway if/when I find my person.

On lazy days; I enjoy sharing a good show with someone special...haven't had that in a long time. Reading is also great; I've got a shelf full of Stephen King and am a voracious reader of fiction. Also enjoy gaming but since it seems controversial in the dating realm know this: my partner would always take precedence unless it were a hobby we enjoyed together. (My Reddit username is actually my Xbox gamertag, because branding or something lol.)

About YOU: Age doesn't matter; near me is great but I'm open to gaps in either direction...it's the PERSON/SOUL, not the number. Attraction is a MUST but it comes in myriad forms for me, I don't have a type per se....petite is GREAT but so are curves. Race doesn't matter either. Your personality is what truly matters. I prioritize communication, affection, empathy and honesty. Being light-hearted and with an expansive sense of humor would be best, as I default to goofy, playful bastard; though my humor can also get super dark. Also, you had best enjoy kissing, cuddling, spooning, etc. if you're in it for the long haul with me. ;
