Now that the loneliness and misery of the pandemic years have begun to recede, I find myself ready to reach out into the world for someone who understands me. Let me explain.
The pandemic and ensuing chaos wreaked all sorts of havoc in my life. So I spent the last year plus on my journey of figuring my shit out, and I've reached the part in that road where Id like to to let someone in to join me. I'm not looking to jump into a relationship and be love bombed again, nor am I looking for a fling to fill the void. What I want is to be open with someone who has the space to let me be who I am. Vulnerability is a challenging thing but rewarding in so many ways.
At the risk of listing my likes and hobbies in a haphazard fashion.. I love reading and currently own more books than I could possibly hope to read in a lifetime. I workout regularly, admittedly initially for vanity purposes but in the last year or so because discipline and routine seem to help me function in life. Politically I'm left of center but the dogmatic ideologies of my youth have given way to a more open look at the world; some of my favorite conversations are with those who disagree with me on most things. As strange as it sounds I quite enjoy having my beliefs and opinions challenged, though by no means is this an invitation to bigotry or other hard right ideologies being pushed around the world.
I'm also a single father of two amazing little boys who help ground my life and give me stability. I have my kids only half the time and very much enjoy being a parent. It's a responsibility but also a joy that still overwhelms me from time to time.
I'm also an occasional pot smoker, not much of a drinker these days, and, like seemingly all millenials, am obsessed with coffee and will likely judge you on how you brew your coffee.
And finally, I have a job I don't hate and a social circle that means the world to me. Somehow I have the good fortune of owning my own house as well- in short, I have my shit together.. on paper at least.
So, if you've made it this far into my ramblings, I'd love to hear from you.
Cheers
J
