I love Reddit - it's like Facebook and Craigslist except with less serial killers and more shame.
I live in Beverly Hills and I'm about to start blogging again, to which "yeah so what" is the appropriate response. I worked in both tech and finance and unlike most people I deliberately avoided overspecialization to the point where I can write about half a dozen topics - building computers, setting up databases, building web apps, setting up servers, etc etc. Even so though I think I could benefit a lot from talking to other people who are into tech.
One thing though - when I say "people who are into tech", I don't necessarily mean that you work in tech. I know many many people working in corporate IT who just have no interest in computers whatsoever - sad but true. I also know that there are a lot of hobbyists doing cutting edge stuff - people who work a boring IT job or an entirely unrelated job day but are doing something cool in their spare time and I'd like to hear about it. Discord is where I generally chat with people, so hopefully that works but maybe there are better places.
Of course I have interests way beyond tech. I've lived and studied in Europe and Asia, I like psychology and history and art and philosophy. I have an MBA, and in business I'm always rooting for the underdog. And I like politics but if I can find out all your opinions just by reading /r/politics for ten minutes then we probably shouldn't discuss it. And I'm a parent of a teenager, which is the most fun and worthwhile thing that I do.
It looks like this is also a sub to meet people for relationships, so I'll just mention that I'm divorced and did I mention I live in Beverly Hills and drive a convertible? I'm exactly like that billionaire in that romance novel that took the girl for a ride in the hot air balloon, other than not being a billionaire and not having a balloon. Still pretty close though.
