I'm a recently separated father of an almost-10 year old daughter, and I have a cat named Oscar and a beagle puppy named Daphne (named after Daphne Greengrass from Harry Potter, haha).

I'm a medical software tech by day, and amateur fantasy writer by night. I'm trying to publish my first novel by the end of the year (it's roughly halfway finished now). I won't go into much detail here as to what it's about (I'll gladly discuss it via PM/chat if you're curious) but I will say that if you like The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, and the like, you'll also like Grace Fisk of Caliphee! The main character is inspired by my daughter.

I'm sure you can tell that I'm a bit nerdy as I do enjoy fantasy/adventure films and books (I also enjoy Star Wars). I also enjoy classic games (PC and NES/SNES for sure - I'm even down for some classic Namco and Atari titles like Pac-Man and Pole Position!). I also enjoy board/card games... Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, Scattergories, Texas Hold'em Poker, Egyptian Rat Screw (anyone remember that?) - just to name a few.

I'm kind of "squat" (5'10", 235 lb/105kg/16.5 stone - but I do work out and am still in the process of losing that awful Covid weight... I would like to be back to around 195 by the end of the year - it's tough, but doable). I don't smoke and hardly ever drink (but am not opposed to dating someone that does drink, though smoking is a dealbreaker). I like eating a variety of cuisine (I prefer Latin American, South Asian, Thai, and Italian) and am adventurous enough to try just about anything. In a nutshell, I do enjoy food that has a bit of a 'kick' to it.

I enjoy traveling (need to renew my passport though), hiking, and fishing (I don't own a boat currently - maybe one day). If my book takes off, I would love to buy some land in Montana (Bozeman area most likely)... if it REALLY takes off (i.e. negotiating film rights - the movie HAS to have Margot Robbie in it, or no dice. That's the only requirement I have. Otherwise, anything else is fair game - I'm not JK Rowling dammit) I'd love to buy some land in Scotland or New Zealand. I'm sure you can tell that I love rugged terrain with cooler climates... Central Alabama has its charm, but the weather is not part of it.

I'm a bit of a language geek. I find etymology of English words fascinating, but I also have a bit of a fascination with Slavic languages (I did study Russian way back when... I don't speak it very well these days though).

I'm not super picky as to what I'm looking for in a partner, though I do prefer someone that enjoys going out on the occasional "fancy date" (i.e. nice dress or pantsuit with heels) and I am a Christian, but I will not date Baptists. Pretty much anything else is fair game (other faiths or no faith is fine - I won't push my faith on you as long as you can reciprocate).
