Not looking for a date, but I just started dating after my marriage ended in July 2022. I finally decided it was time to start trying to date again. Not looking for a long term relationship right now. I am a big believer in letting yourself heal after something like this happens. But it is time for me to put myself back out there and see what is out there.
I met my ex-wife on OKCupid 10 years ago so I am not completely unfamiliar to online dating. I know it could be a little wild at times.
So I downloaded some dating apps and it is so wild. People are looking for someone to impress them with a text message, like it is some kind of pop quiz. Or people are straight up providing a checklist and if you don't meet each criteria, you are disqualified. It just baffles me that people don't want to just talk and get to know one another.
I'm just wondering if other people are also like blown away at how dating has changed. So yeah, do you have any tips for online dating or feel similar about how things are?
