I saw a video a while back called "Timelapse of the Future" that showed how everything (including the universe itself) would eventually die. It was the most calming 29 minutes I've experienced in a while.
Where others understandably feel existential dread, I feel absolute serenity. We are all here for the briefest moment. And cosmically speaking, a mayfly is as [in]significant as a douchebag billionaire (you know the one I'm talking about- that's right, all of them). None of us will have any effect beyond this awesome but ultimately unremarkable solar system. And even if we do reach another star, there are roughly 200 billion trillion others. That's about 10,000 stars for every single grain of sand on Earth. And every last one of them will burn spectacularly until they die in the end. And you will never feel the heat of one that isn't our sun.
That's a beautiful thought to me. We all have our own story. But they all end the same.
They lived. They died.
So let's live a bit.
