I have cptsd, anxiety, depression, and orthorexia. After 5 years of treatment (medicine and therapy) it has finally become manageable! Why am I talking about this in r/QuitVaping?
Quitting nicotine was easy for me (keep reading I promise). I was so confused the first few days- why did people struggle so much with this? Why didn’t I do it sooner? I had tried once before but went back to it after a month. Why was it so easy this time? And 3 days in, it hit me…. I TAKE WELLBUTRIN!
Wellbutrin can be prescribed for a lot of things- I take it for depression, fatigue, libido, and to suppress my appetite- and it works WONDERS. But, it can ALSO be prescribed to reduce withdrawal symptoms.
If you can’t quit cold turkey, please please please ask your doctor if this is something that might work for you. A GP should be able to write the script.
I didn’t get on it to quit, but there is no doubt that is what made it possible. I had no physical withdrawal symptoms, like no headache or cold/flu stuff. I was short tempered for a day or two but that was literally the worst of it. I had vaped for 5.5 years.
Full transparency: I am prescribed the highest dose allowed (450 mg) which is probably why it worked SO well for me. You probably won’t be given nearly as much (I am a cult survivor so I am on some really strong stuff, lol.) I just wanted to share my experience because holy shit, it made all the difference. I hope this can help someone that thought they had exhausted all options trying to quit!
