Accounts receivable on cash basis balance sheet

Iām running QB online. When I run a balance sheet on the cash basis there is a balance in AR that should not show on the cash basis. It does not tie to any customer balance and I want to write it off but it will not allow the journal entry to AR unless I apply to a customer. Is there a way to get around or fix this??
