The Army-issued sleeping bag (the old grey ones, not the new one) isn't bad by any means, but it's incredibly bulky and takes up a lot of room in my ruck. I'm looking for some alternatives. Maybe there are some technical criteria I'm overlooking, but here's what I want.
Comfortable (not just survivable) down to at least 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I can wear cold weather gear if it gets colder, but I've rarely seen temperatures dip below 20 for more than a few hours, and only on the coldest days of the year. If a 0 degree bag isn't much larger, that's better.
Smaller and lighter than the MSS
An earth tone color
Compatible with an earth tone bivy/waterproof cover
As for cost, I dunno, is no more than $200 reasonable? I'm will to spend more if I need to.
