I know that Quakers were against tithing, especially in the early years, as some of the money went to the parish church(I believe).
What is the take on this today? I love the fact that there is not much talk of tithing to the meeting. But I would assume some money is needed for the meeting building (if there is one) and other needs.
I'm my experience, when you attend the Quakers business meeting (which is typically a separate meeting and monthly) the meeting will go over their financial status and income and expenditure. One elder sent me the Quaker meeting bank details should I ever want to make a donation towards costs, which I do, but I'm very grateful I'm not pressured into doing so. If you and for the meetings bank details I'm sure they would happily share with you.
