I just started this Quake Live. How could I get started on getting good?

I had always had some interest in the Quake games. I had came from mainly playing Team Fortress 2, which I could say have some similarities with Quake. I had gone through the first tutorial with Crash only to get stumped at the expert puzzle. I was able to complete The Rocket Jumping Tutorial easily. And I haven't been able to finish the Strafe Tutorial. Is there a certain place I could look for general tips?
