Economy vs Premium Economy on Long Haul?

FF here, haven’t done long haul in forever. I have two main options for upcoming trip. Basically I’m traveling from the US and either can go basic or premium on either the 787-9 or A380-800 and was wondering if the splurging for premium economy is worth it on a long haul flight? Or if one of two planes has better economy class than the other?
