I had just performed statistical analysis on a shp file of soil depth with four distinct values (deep, moderately deep, shallow, very shallow) and some of the statistics that came out were minimum, mean, and maximum lengths. What do these three mean?

Since the minimum length was 4 and maximum length was 15, Iā€™m assuming itā€™s the length of the text in the values (4 characters in ā€œdeepā€ and 15 characters in ā€œmoderately deepā€) and if so, how do I use this information?
