My mom annoys me with her conspiracies
Post Body

I'm on Long Island, and the recent talk here is the wildfires and the smoke. Of course my mom had to say something about it being a conspiracy. I asked her "You really believe everything's a conspiracy, huh?" and she said "It's not a conspiracy if it's true" God help these people.

Me and my mom have a personal trainer at the gym, and sometimes they'll talk about politics (none of which I agree with). Sure enough, at today's session my mom brought up the wildfires. Luckily, they didn't talk about it for that long, and I just kinda zoned out because I'm tired of this shit.

It just annoys me how much she reads on the internet and believes it. She gets a lot of her "info" from facebook, and I've told her in the past stop believing what random people comment online. She believes in conspiracies about the covid vaccine, wearing masks, EMF waves (wtf even is that?), chemtrails, elections aren't fair, the FBI is corrupt.

The one I think hurt the worse to hear is she believes drag queens and LGBTQ people are grooming kids. I've told her a few years ago I was questioning my sexuality, and she was supportive. Now I know I'm a lesbian, but I don't feel comfortable saying anything. Even my extended family is starting to fall for this groomer bullshit. But I don't hear them saying anything about the Catholic Church.

My dad got suckered into listening to Fox "News" before the 2016 election, but even he tells her she gets too deep into conspiracies. I never argue with them about politics because that won't do anything, so I just shut up and let them believe in whatever bullshit they wanna believe in. It's not even worth it honestly.
