Why do so many GUI tutorials focus on using a layout editor?? It's very frustrating when I want to learn how to use elements programmatically

Post Body

I've been studying pyqt5 for a bit now in the hopes of writing a replacement TiVo to go app(the current one doesn't work due to SSL restrictions in Linux). I figured now would be a good time to get acquainted with writing a GUI. Unfortunately, most of the tutorials I have seen focus on using a layout editor. Technically, I don't have a problem with that for some scenarios. Layout editors are a good way to write complex guis very quickly. But I think it's Overkill to use them for every single window in my application because it amounts to one more asset file that I have to keep track of.

I remember that when I was learning Java back in the day, my CS professor wouldn't even allow us to use a layout editor because he said it didn't really teach us any of the underlying Concepts about class inheritance Etc, and did too much of the work for us. I understand that some people need to get things done quickly, but for god sakes, these are tutorials! Would it be that hard to explain the Bindings that are being generated?
