I joined the first beginning of this month as an Assurance Associate. I still haven’t been assigned my engagement team yet as I’m still training but I was looking into traveling abroad to visit family during the firm shutdown but wanted to request a few days before and after (to make it a total of 2 weeks; 1 week shutdown and 1 PTO). I was told by some people in my foundations training that that’s not an unreasonable request and that it’s pretty common actually.
But I was told since I’m not staffed yet I’d have to reach out to my development leader to request off. I reached out in an email on Thursday introducing myself and asking if he had 10 minutes next week for a quick call as well as how to go about PTO. I still haven’t received a response. He’s a senior manager so I’m sure he’s very busy but should I follow up or just wait to be staffed at this point. I don’t wanna seem too pushy since it’ll be his first impression of me, but airplane ticket prices are going up the longer I wait.
