I am going on vacation to PR for 16 days and want to take a relaxing trip around the island, seeing as much of it as I can. I feel pretty solid about my itinerary except for the 2 days I have planned between (El Yunque & Laguna Grande)Fajardo and Ponce.
My current plans are to spend a day in Caguas and Guayama, and visit la Ruta de Lechon along the way, but I am unsure if there is something more interesting to see. When I read a few articles on Caguas, nothing really sparked my interest. Maybe I am missing something? Guayama seems ok, but again, nothing too exciting in my opinion.
Would driving along the southeast coast be better? Am I just wrong, and both towns are actually uniquely fascinating? Any personal thoughts/experiences from locals or tourists are welcome. I enjoy hiking(although it may be too much at once after El Yunque), art, architecture, history, and poetry if that helps.
