UTV Rental
Post Body

I know I’m most likely going to get a lot of negative feedback for this post but I wanted to post this anyways…

I did a TON of research before coming to PP from safety to food to things to do to border crossing, etc. I’m very much an OCD planner. I read countless posts about the corruption in renting ATV’s/UTV’s in PP so for the first few days of our trip we avoided every single one of these places. However, with 2 pre-teen boys they kept begging to ride one. My boyfriend also has over 20 years of experience riding them and wanted to do this as well. We finally decided to go ahead and rent a UTV. Unfortunately, we got it stuck on a little cliff after avoiding another UTV zipping by us. Instead of going over the cliff and possibly rolling it we paused and got stuck.

We called the company and a nice young man showed up and told us all about his life story being deported back to PP from Phoenix. He was kind, polite and extremely understanding. His boss showed up, didn’t acknowledge us and wouldn’t speak to us even though we spoke Espanol at all which was fine. He brought an additional UTV to pull us out and we both remarked, “How could he think another UTV could pull this thing out off the cliff?” It was odd but we let it go. He left to go get a truck. The rental place was less than 1/2 mile down the road from where we were but it took him 45 minutes to pick up the truck that was parked at the rental spot. This racked up our late fees substantially. When we arrived back they wanted $300 from us. $100 for pulling us out and $200 for being late. We would have been on time had they brought the truck and got us out in the first place. We were perfectly understanding of the $100 tow fee. You’d pay that or more in the states to be towed. However, the additional $200 seemed absurd. After much discussion they came down to $150. However when I explained again that this wasn’t fair they yelled, “$180 now!” It was a pointless argument. Even after being threatened with them calling la policia on us. When we went to pay $180 they said, “No, you pay $300 now.” 🤦‍♀️

To be honest, I cried quite a bit today. I was extremely disappointed in myself for not following through with all the research I had done and read about renting any sort of ATV in PP. But I did it for my boys… and we actually did have a blast prior to getting stuck. It was also so disheartening to have such a wonderful trip with many lovely locals only to be swindled by a couple of bad eggs.

Point being, don’t rent any UTV’s/ATV’s, etc. in PP because it is in fact true, they all are corrupt.
