A local tea shop has recently bought up an extensive amount of sunsing puerhs from a closing shop in the neighboring city. I tried a few of them in the shop yesterday and bought two more blindly. Those two I tried this morning and was unpleasantly surprised. The first was a 2016 Bulang Sheng that was stored „in traditional warehouses". Upon opening I soon realized that traditional here refers to wet af storage. Upon opening the brick another surprise awaited, golden spores and other white stuff that might be mold. I still tried the tea and it had a Gorgonzola like mushroomy spicyness in the nose. I had one cup but as I was worried about my health I stopped drinking and moved one to the next tea A 2018 Huangshan yiwu sheng. This one was dry stored but upon putting it into my pot I noticed a chemical, chlorine like smell. This chemical character carries into the liquid which once again made me worried. I had a lot of shengs in the past and I never had such an experience This leads me to two questions. 1) do you think these teas are safe to consume (even if not enjoyable, I'll just gift them to interested people) 2) does anybody have experience with sunsing tea factory? Is their production quality just shitty?
