I’m not a conversationalist. I hate small talk. I’m extremely introverted. I get anxious trying to strike up a convo with someone I don’t already know.
Im wondering if I have what it takes to succeed in this field. My org just gave out grants to several nonprofits. We announced it to them as a surprise during an event. I was tasked with asking reps from these orgs if they’d like me to take any pictures of them with some branded photo frames that we had. I have never met these people (most of which were execs from their respective organizations), so I struggled to go up to them and strike up a conversation with them.
The people on my team are very personable and friendly. I think I’m friendly but I also think that my awkwardness is generally perceived as off putting. I guess I’ve just been thinking about how this will affect my career down the road.
