Dealing with boredom as an intern

Post Body

I recently began a 16-week internship in the Communications & Public Affairs department of a certain theme park company.

Today was the beginning of week 3 and I have never felt so bored in my life. Granted, some management is currently on vacation. But I have nothing to do — I already asked to be included on one project, and that isn’t going to get off the ground for a bit.

I’m getting paid, so it’s whatever, but I’m the type that feels uncomfortably restless if I don’t have something to be working on. I’m also just eager to get stuff to put on my portfolio, gain experience and just generally prove myself.

I know I’m an intern. Should this be expected on week 3 of an internship? Or should I be more proactive and annoy (nudge) my seniors about giving me more work? Any other miscellaneous tips?

(I should also mention that there are 3 other interns who were hired with me — they also have expressed similar feelings)
