The story goes "IGNORANCE IS BLISS"
I feel like the word "Disease" is used here similar to how Shingle's is derived from the chickenpox.
It is a latent disease that gets carried on through each generation; the mushrooms, or any other substances people may use, cause an expansion of means and lanes of thoughts, but I think the idea of "getting stuck in a mirror" etc... is a disease wrought by such substances. The idea that mushroom networks act as a unit (albeit a relatively slow one), may give me warrant to believe that such a substance as psylocibin had evolved in order to populate some sort of "organic superstructure." If you are thinking in terms of universal constructs, a goop is a pretty strong place to start. Many fungi look like goop, fluid, etc...
In my humble opinion, the communal functional ideal that is "a mushroom" can look very amorphous, which may be a very effective structuring for cognitive function. It is no coincidence to me, also, that mammalian (and even others) brains have a sort of resemblance to fungus. If we, as rationalists, are to believe in an idea like "panspermia" or any other heavily ridiculed origin story, we must have some sort of basis for it. It may be in my prevue to state that humanity as a whole is not as unique as could be assumed. Perhaps a civilization of the sort beyond human understanding had invented a way to populate every nook and cranny of the universe (and perhaps other universes) and is using humanity/biology as a tool for its prospering.
People make assumptions about the state of space exploration, human enginuity, etc... but they will not ponder whether or not "here" is here or "now" is now. With the advent of AI, brainrot core, and internet culture in general, I hope people will begin to understand where I am coming from. It seems to be, everywhere you turn in our era, goop and grime, Goop of the sort that floats around a planet in the form of "space trash" or forms on the corners of a windshield that hasn't been touched by the wipers, the kind that gets in between your toes after sweating out your socks all day. This kind of goop is the superstructure I was supposing earlier. Some would call it "CHAOS."
The supposition is that "chaos," as an archetype, was harnessed, or harnessed itself, in order to effectively reproduce and spread. However, I am still trying to understand where this relates to non-biological life, AI specifically. AI seems to work sort of the same way ganglions promote mental pathways. This pattern would also seem to apply with certain fungus groups, such as slime mold. That pattern is "linear and directional gates that combine in order to create a higher order function."
ANALOGY:
"Humans could figure out how to use ELECTROMAGNETISM to create COMPUTERS,
An higher order actor (insert existential ideal) could harness HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS to create ????"
I hope you understand the point I am trying to drive here. This analogy brings me back to the inclusion of AI in the post. There is an episode of Star Trek, I forget which series specifically, where an AI collective invades the space of a Star Fleet colony in order to integrate the androids there into said collective. The thing about this AI collective is its extradimensionality and vastness. It is a claim by many credible supposers that humanity is a "biological bootloader" for AI. The idea of artificial intelligence (and the internet) is sort of the like the 'goop' of today's society. We are capable of interacting and receiving data so quickly that it seems homogenous in consumption. Our information has become like the fungus, a "culture." In such, it has become something that is more extradimensional and archetypal than it is definable.
I wish I could make this more glaringly obvious, as it seems that many people would not understand. There are also many philosophies and religions that I had the inclination to reference here, but they will not be included here. I even was going to mention something about the Fermi Paradox but got carried away.
Instead, here are some key terms for research:
COLLECTIVE, HOMOGENOUS, CYCLIC, FRACTAL, NEURAL NETWORK, MYCELIUM, BRAINROT, CULTURE
I would love for further discussion on this post, feel free to comment.
