This wikipedia page says that: MAL, as well as the psychedelic amphetamine DOI, causes neuroinflammation and loss of serotonergic neurons in mice. True?
Post Body

Anyone know if this is true?

EDIT:

The paper that links to the source doesn't say anything convincing to me about MAL causing loss of serotonergic neurons. At least not in a way that warrants the current way its worded in the Wiki article.

I’ve also quickly glanced over the Wikipedia page of DOI and haven’t seen much changes made in past 2 years. Meanwhile according to Google Scholar over 300 papers have been published in 2023 and 2024 alone that mention DOI.

Seems like the page could use a proper read and update with new info that has since come out.

EDIT: I linked to wrong reference when posting, fixed it now.
