I have a thought: Imagine you learn about LSD and, after conducting thorough research, you decide to try it for the first time. This decision isn't random or coincidental. You understand the drug's potency, yet you still want to experience it. This decision stems from your curiosity or your inclination to seek unique experiences—in other words, it's a reflection of your personality. Your personality drove you to try the drug, and once you take it, your personality may change over time. I'm not suggesting that this drug will completely transform your life, but it is powerful enough to create a nudge that could gradually alter the course of your life. It is like giving an asteroid, which is going to hit the earth, a tiny nudge. At the moment, the shift of asteroid seems insignificant, but as time passes, that small nudge can dramatically alter the asteroid's trajectory and missing earth. Same way, a small thought can be planted in your head such as not to chase money (not that there's anything wrong with that) could have a huge impact in your life. This one thought can keep you content with what you got and to appreciate simple things in life. This thought didn't come out of nowhere, it's already in you but the LSD might have made you to realize it.
One can reach the same conclusions without using psychedelics, but these substances can certainly act as catalysts. I've observed that some people have no interest in trying psychedelics. While a few believe they don't need them for their personal growth, I've noticed that many are so conditioned by their materialistic surroundings that they are unwilling to consider anything beyond their comfort zone.
So what are your thoughts on this? Do you believe that you, i.e your personality led to trying these substances?
